Why does every flower arrangement look the same? Round shape, filler greens, a dozen roses. I wanted to do something different, so I made this.
It is Icelandic poppies with billy buttons and brain celosia, built on a moss dome in a black ruffled bowl. I ordered a whole poppy box for it and got exactly two red ones. Two out of a hundred stems. So the two reds became the stars, and the rest of the piece got built around them.
The billy buttons are the yellow spheres on wiry stems, and they give the piece height without weight. The brain celosia is one of my favorite stems ever, tucked in green folds between the moss mounds. One white poppy reaches out sideways on its own, and I left it alone because it clearly had a plan.
