Onyx anthuriums

This one pairs black anthuriums with yellow cymbidium orchids, so neither gets to be subtle.

The anthuriums are such a deep burgundy that they read as black, with a finish like patent leather. People at events touch them to check if they are real.

Anthuriums come from the rainforests of Central and South America, mostly Colombia and Ecuador, where they grow on trees instead of in soil. The black ones do not exist in the wild. Growers bred them over years by selecting darker and darker blooms, and only a handful produce them today. When my wholesaler has them, I buy them before I know what they are for.
