I went to a lamp workshop at Simonett with Daniel Ochoa. Two hours on a Saturday morning, twenty-three spots, and everyone built and customized their own lamp from scratch and took it home. A portion of the proceeds went to earthquake relief in Venezuela.
Mine is the burgundy one, square stitched, with white beads on a beige string.
I value these creative moments with people who care about making things. Everyone was quiet and focused on their own version of the same lamp. My phone stayed in my bag the whole two hours, which almost never happens, and it was a blessing to be somewhere I did not need it.
